Abstract
|

|
Calorie malnutrition has been implicated as major contributing factor in the response to specific therapeutic modalities in many disease processes. Decreased reserves of both fuel and protein will eventually result in impairment of most organ systems.
The gastrointestinal system is particularly susceptable to nutrient deprivation, and prompt diagnosis and treatment of malnutrition are indicated for appropriate treatment of many gastroenterologic disease. So, many patients who have gastrointestinal surgery-e.g. esophageal tract surgery and total gastrectomy, pancreatic and hepatic insufficiency, intestinal fistula, are susceptable to undernutrition. So that, we consider, to provide the calorie via oral and I.V. route. Now, we briefly review about the hyperalimentation and its complications etc..
